Bringing science and policy in tune and bridging the gap between the scientific community and society at large is very important for efficiency and effectiveness. The H2020 Initiative is committed to develop mechanisms to improve the science–policy/practice interface.
More than 100 capacity building and technical assistance activities will have been completed between February 2016 and April 2019 under the SWIM-H2020 Support Mechanism either regionally, sub-regionally or nationally in Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine and Tunisia.
The close cooperation between the European Environmental Agency (EEA) and UN Environment/Mediterranean Action Plan (UN Environment/MAP) on making a common Environmental information system a reality in the Mediterranean region continues.
The milestone year for the Initiative is fast approaching and its three components, since the 9th meeting of the Steering Group of the Initiative that took place on 29 January 2018 at the Dead Sea, Jordan (read more here) are in the process of consolidating and wrapping up their work programmes in view of the remaining last two years of the Initiative's Work Plan.
