For a cleaner Mediterranean by the year 2020For a cleaner Mediterranean by the year 2020The mandate given to the Capacity Building Sub Group by the 2nd Meeting of the H2020 Steering Group (Tunis, 16 June 2008) was to identify areas within the scope of H2020 (urban waste water, municipal solid waste and industrial emissions) where regional capacity building would add value.
A new phase of Horizon 2020 Capacity Building activities (2016-2019) is currently running through the Horizon 2020 Support Mechanism which is part of the EU-funded Sustainable Water Integrated Management – Horizon 2020 Support Mechanism project (SWIM-Horizon2020 SM).

The H2020 CB/MEP programme of capacity building and environmental mainstreaming activities (November 2009 – October 2014) has supported the implementation of the Horizon 2020 Initiative Road Map and Work Plan through capacity building and awareness raising activities, especially with respect to promoting environmental integration and mainstreaming into other sectoral policies. These activities included trainings, study visits, ad hoc consultations and other activities as appropriate.
