MeHSIP II has contributed in reducing the most significant sources of pollution in the Mediterranean by providing direct technical advice and support to promoters for the preparation of investment projects in the water and environmental sectors of the Southern Neighbourhood.
Bringing science and policy in tune and bridging the gap between the scientific community and society at large is very important for efficiency and effectiveness. The H2020 Initiative is committed to develop mechanisms to improve the science–policy/practice interface.
More than 100 capacity building and technical assistance activities will have been completed between February 2016 and April 2019 under the SWIM-H2020 Support Mechanism either regionally, sub-regionally or nationally in Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine and Tunisia.
The close cooperation between the European Environmental Agency (EEA) and UN Environment/Mediterranean Action Plan (UN Environment/MAP) on making a common Environmental information system a reality in the Mediterranean region continues.
